Chicago Gold Slot

Pear Fiction's Chicago Gold takes us one hundred years back in time to the prohibition era in the United States of America. This was a time of gangsters and bootleg liquor. That seems like an odd thing to celebrate, but it inspired the popular musical and movie "Chicago" and also this rather wonderful online slots creation. Set against a dark and dingy backstreet in downtown Chicago, Chicago Gold gives us a whole five reels and five rows to play with. You'll also note that there are four jackpot prizes listed to the left of the reels. They're all up for grabs on any spin, and we'll talk more about them later. The low-value symbols on the reels are the familiar playing card royals, whereas the high values are represented by characters from the slot's story. We have a gangland thug with a baseball bat, a police officer, a gangster's moll and (of course) a suit-wearing moustached mobster. All the character symbols land as stacks, which is helpful when you're aiming for big money wins. The slot has a wild symbol to help you put winning lines together and a raft of special bonus symbols specific to the slot's features.

Chicago Gold Bonus Features

Cash Collect

This clever bonus can take any one of three forms when it triggers. Keep an eye out for cash bonus symbols on the first four reels. They have specific values (related to multiples of your stake) printed on them when they land. To win all that money, you need to land at least one cash symbol on reels 1-4 and a special collect symbol on reel 5. There are three different collect symbols. Here's what they do. The standard collect symbol, associated with the gangster's moll, blows you a kiss and then awards you the combined value of all the cash symbols on the screen. There are no additional perks. The respin collect symbol, associated with the baseball bat-toting thug, makes the cash symbols sticky and awards you unlimited respins that only end when either every space on the reels is full of cash or you spin without finding any new ones. Everything in sight is yours when the round is over. The multi collect symbol, associated with the police officer, awards a random multiplier between x2 and x5 against all cash values in play and then pays the revised total out to you as a win.

Free Spins

Land the special free spins symbol in triplicate to trigger this feature. You get eight spins, during which additional jackpot, cash, and collector symbols are added to the reels. This means you can trigger the Cash Collect bonus from within the Free Spins bonus for maximum effect.

Jackpot

The mobster lands on the reels as a special gold coin. When he appears at the same time as any of the collect symbols, you’re taken to a new prize-picker screen. Pick three matching jackpot symbols from the options available to win the associated jackpot from the left of your screen. The grand jackpot is always x5000 your stake!

About Pear Fiction

The name "Pear Fiction" sounds a little bit like "perfection," and we don't think that's a coincidence. They're a Canadian online slots provider and haven't been around for as long as most of the industry's better-known names. That doesn't count against them, though. They've already developed a reputation for making exciting, fast-paced slots with excellent graphics from their base in Montreal. Chicago Gold is no exception to that. While they're establishing themselves, Pear Fiction works in partnership with other slots development companies to bring their creations to a wider audience. We've already seen collaborations between Pear Fiction and Microgaming, Pear Fiction and Leander Games, and in the case of Chicago Gold, Pear Fiction and Red7. We suspect it won't be long before they move beyond this collaborative model to release slots independently, and we're looking forward to finding out what they're capable of when they do.
